History As:

A fangirl: I first got into anime the summer before freshman year of high school, when my best friend kept insisting that I watch this show called “Pokémon.” While reading an article in USA Today about Pokémon one day, I learned that this type of show was called “anime,” and that there was a lot more of it out there. So, being the inquisitive type that I am, I decided to find out more. : ) I started out the way a lot of us do, watching the stuff on TV (after Pokémon, my next major show was Dragonball Z), and now.....yeah, I still watch the stuff on TV. Anime is expensive, okay? I have seen some shows that aren’t on TV, though, and I do know quite a bit more about anime in general than your average TV-fan.

A writer: I’ve been writing since...well, since forever, it seems like. I wrote my first story in second grade, I think, although I don’t think I finished it. (Funny, I still have that problem.) My first complete story was in fourth grade; it was about some girl that turns into a cat, only to find out it was a dream. (Cat-people in the fourth grade....yeah, I was destined to like anime.) Since then, I’ve written several stories, and started several more. Currently, I’m in the process of writing what I call my “story-story” – that is, an original story that I’m hoping will be book-length and maybe, just maybe, if I’m very very lucky, will get published someday. I’m also writing two fanfics, one of them about DBZ, one Gundam Wing, and both of them self-inserts because, well, I’m a pathetic fangirl. : ) I don’t think I’ve actually ever read a self-insert fic before, so I don’t know whether mine are better or worse than the others out there.

An artist: Almost my whole life, I was convinced I couldn’t draw. I really wanted to be able to, but I was a writer, not an artist. Then, sometime in the second half of sophomore year, I was looking at some of my DBZ pictures, and was like, “I could draw that. That doesn’t look too hard.” So, I drew a little pic of Goku’s face, was rather pleased with the results, and decided maybe I could draw, at least a little bit. Then, for a while, I was convinced I could only draw in the DBZ style, since it’s mostly lines and quite a bit simpler than a lot of other anime styles. Eventually I got over that, too. So now, I have a webcomic. Still not really sure if I can draw all that well, because I never did practice enough, but maybe by forcing myself to make a comic once a week I can improve some.
